Baker McKenzie FenXun has released a guide titled "Guide to Legal and Regulatory Practice in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area".

The guide focuses on key issues pertaining to doing business in China's Greater Bay Area (GBA), including: cross-border investment and mergers and acquisitions; capital markets; financial opening and innovation; wealth management; bankruptcy and restructuring; data protection; dispute resolution; employment; intellectual property; regulatory compliance; real estate; real estate investment trusts (REITs); and taxation, among other topics.

The guide is available in both English and Chinese languages, and contains information on the relevant GBA legislations and policies that regulate domestic and cross-border investments and business activities in the GBA. More than two dozen partners and lawyers from the Baker McKenzie FenXun Joint Operation discuss industry market practice and provide insights based on in-depth analysis of relevant cases in various areas.

Tracy Wut, Baker McKenzie's China Managing Partner, said: "The Greater Bay Area initiative has shown remarkable progress in its first five years, solidifying its vision of establishing a global economic powerhouse in Southern China. As new policies and measures are being introduced to strengthen the cross-border links between the 11 cities, businesses are also finding navigating the evolving legal and regulatory environment challenging. We believe this guide will be a useful resource for businesses in gaining further insights into China's complex legal and regulatory environment as they look to seize new opportunities in this new region."

Tracy continued, "As a Firm that has been a long-term business partner to our clients for their China inbound and outbound investment, clients highly value the seamless China and international law advice that we are able to provide through our Baker McKenzie FenXun joint operation platform. We look forward to continuing to support our clients in tackling the multifaceted issues in the region and help them to achieve their commercial goals."
